Counselling offers an opportunity to explore what is happening in your life and gain a deeper understanding of yourself. Sometimes we know what is troubling us but find it difficult to understand why we feel or respond as we do. At other times, we may have a sense that something in our lives is not quite right, without knowing exactly what needs to change.
In our work together, we can look more closely at the difficulties you are experiencing and what may lie behind them. This might involve exploring feelings that are difficult to express, questioning familiar beliefs about yourself, or noticing ways of responding that may be affecting your relationships and psychological wellbeing.
With greater awareness comes the possibility of change.
Counselling is not always about finding immediate answers. Some feelings and experiences take time to understand, and there can be great value in exploring them.
My approach is informed by evidence of what works in counselling while remaining centred on you as an individual. Alongside developing a deeper understanding of yourself, we can explore how greater awareness might help you make different choices and respond to difficulties in new ways.
People seek counselling for many reasons, including anxiety, depression, stress and burnout, low self-esteem and relationship difficulties. You may be coping with bereavement, grief or other forms of loss, adjusting to motherhood, or navigating a period of significant change or uncertainty.
"Treatment is not just fixing what is wrong; it also is building what is right."
Martin E. P. Seligman, Pioneer of Positive Psychology
Whatever brings you to counselling, we can consider what is affecting your mental health and wellbeing, while also recognising your strengths and the resources that may support you in navigating life's challenges and making positive changes. Counselling can be about more than managing difficulties; it can also offer opportunities for personal growth, developing a greater sense of wellbeing and finding fulfilment in life.
